Toyota and Nissan recall millions of vehicles due to faulty airbags



Toyota and Nissan are at the centre of a continuing mass global recall due to faulty airbags manufactured by Takata.

In the latest incident, the Japanese companies have recalled more than 11 million vehicles worldwide with Takata airbags over concerns that front passenger and driver airbag inflators could deploy abnormally or rupture, possibly injuring passengers.

“These recalls are due to the potential that, depending on the vehicle, either the driver’s or passenger’s airbag inflators may be susceptible to moisture intrusion over time,” Toyota wrote on its website. “If this happens, this could potentially make the inflator assembly prone to rupture during an accident, increasing the risk of injury to the occupant.” Read more…
